Sime Darby Unimills is part of the prominent Malaysian company the Sime Darby Group. Sime Darby has a history in plantations and oil processing, dating back to 1844 and characterized by success, leadership and responsibility towards nature, people and customers. This history and the current market needs resulted end 2004 in a new strategy on innovation, responsibility and partnership with our customers. We expressed its ambition to excel as a co-developer of food products and to be the preferred supplier of tailor-made vegetable oil based ingredients.

Sime Darby Unimills is a leading edge European supplier of tailor-made vegetable oils producing more than 450,000 tonnes of products per year. The strength of Sime Darby Unimills is its diversity of processes, ranging from hydrogenated to fractionated, double-fractionated, and interesterified oils, and the possibilities that the unique infrastructure offers. Flexibility and reliability are natural for our people supported by a streamlined internal organisation based on transparency, short communication lines and mutual respect inspired by a committed management.

Innovation, and the rate at which new products are developed, are key for success in today's market. Therefore, we adopted the open innovation model, and formed a creative new product development team with an extensive knowledge of oils and fats physics, chemistry and processing. While working in multi-disciplinary teams with our customers we now have successfully co-developed a number of new fat compositions with improved functional benefits. Additional innovative power is provided by strong collaboration with food innovation expertise and state-of-the art food application facilities in the Dutch Food Valley through a long-term agreement with Sime Darby.

Based on the progress made, we can offer effective innovation power with shorter lead times and higher success rates than before; both key elements to rapidly enable our customers to bring new products to the market and gain competitive advantage.
