Sustainability

One of the growing concerns of the European food industry nowadays is that of Food Safety. The value of a brand, and the company as a whole, can depend on it. Tracking and tracing - going back to the raw material used by your supplier - is well prescribed by European Law. But is that enough? Do we not also want to know where those raw materials come from? Do we not want their identity to be preserved?

Golden Hope’s activities to produce sustainable palm oil are well documented from the seedling stage, right down to the export of palm oil products, providing our customers with full “tracking and tracing” of palm oil.

Golden Hope is the second largest plantation group in Malaysia and own 198,000 hectares of plantations and production close to 800,000 tonnes of superior quality palm products. Golden Hope’s sheer size and long focus on quality have put Unimills in a unique position: being the final link in an integrated supply chain of palm oil, where most palm-based products can be traced back to the original seedlings that produced the palm trees and its fruit. It is possible to verify how those trees were grown and how the fruits were treated. Every step, from plantation to application, is managed. And so, if Food Safety ever is an issue, this is as close to it as you can get!
